Leopard geckos
I have a weird obsession with exotic pets. It's not that I don't like cats and dogs, in fact, I had tended to three cats and I own a fish tank. Rather, I'm just naturally drawn into special creatures that may not be many people's first choices as pets. Currently, I have three geckos and without further a due, I'd like to introduce you to my mini dinosaurs: Jelly (♀), Pineapple (♂) and Mango (♀).

Before I take you to a closer look at their lives, I'd like to tell you about their origins--leopard geckos (Eublepharis macularius), are cathemeral, ground-dwelling lizards, which means they don't necessarily come out at day time or night time and they don't have toe pads to help them climb. Mainly they originated from the desserts throughout Afghanistan and some parts of Asia. They are insectivorous, meaning that they fed on insects; in my case, I feed them mostly cockroaches, which is common as to keeping leopard geckos. An adult leopard gecko is around 20 to 30 centimeters and weighs around 50 to 70 grams. Some individuals with special genetics could even grow up to more than 30 centimeters and 100 grams! As lizards, they are one of the easiest to take care of, and through the breeders' hard endeavor, they have been adapted as great pets around the world.

As I mentioned, this animal, unlike most lizards, is not a good climber. instead of having toe pads, they have these tiny paws with slim fingers. Nevertheless, you'd be surprised at how fast they can run. Normally they move rather slowly in comparison to other wild lizards, but once they feel threatened or intimidated, you might catch them running 30 mph! Moreover, they have keen hearings and eyesight to help avoid predators. Their sense of smell is also a strong trait, for the most part, a leopard gecko held captive as a pet could recognize the smell of their owner as a sign that food is coming.
To sum up, these amazing creatures are no less a pet than other domesticated species. They have truly enriched my life with their presence and given me a chance to be their companion. Finally, I'd like to mention that no matter what kind of animal you want to keep as a pet, be sure to do enough research and find legal breeders or try to adopt. Your pet may only be one part of your life, but you are everything to them and all lives deserve to be well-treated.
