Being far away from friends and family is tough sometimes, I'm from Taouyaun and I go home once a month to visit my parents. My girlfriend lives in Hsinchu though, which means we don't get to see each other very often, not to mention the recent coronavirus outbreak that basically grounded us. Transportation is costly too, and I'm always hesitant to let her spend her hard earnings to visit me. Today (April 29th) is our anniversary, but we can't afford the luxury to go on a date, she has to go to work up north and I need to prepare for midterm here in southern Taiwan. Hence, I decided to do something for her. I sent her a gift to surprise her and hope to make her day better. Although it wasn't anything expensive, I know that she'd be delighted by it because it's beyond her expectation. I hope she feels motivated and keeps on fighting for herself. Other than that, the pineapples here are starting to come out! I bought two for my dad and his girlfriend last week, they said it was delicious. Doing these little things makes me happy, it's how I express my feelings and I hope my loved ones receive the warmth I try to convey. If you have anyone that you care for immensely, maybe you can try my method someday and be their sunshine for the day. After all, during this horrible pandemic, we all need some sunshine along the way.
